River City Apps

Privacy notice

Effective October 21, 2026

Puppet Theater is provided by Jacob Marshall under the River City Apps brand. This notice explains what happens to information used in the app and, separately, information involved when you visit this website or contact support.

The short version

Puppet Theater does not require an account. Shows, narration, custom animal-sound recordings, and preferences are stored in the app’s local storage. River City Apps does not receive or upload this content. Apple-managed backups or device transfers may include app data. After passing the grown-up check, an adult may save a separate video copy to Photos.

Microphone and recordings

Without Narration records stage actions without recording or saving narration. If Auto Mouth is on, the app may still use microphone input temporarily to animate mouth movement. Turn Auto Mouth off to make a show without microphone use. A grown-up check appears before the first system microphone permission request for With Narration, Record My Sound, or Auto Mouth. With permission, the app can save narration with a show or a short custom sound with a puppet.

Auto Mouth processes microphone input locally to animate mouth movement. While monitoring is active, it may use a temporary local metering file. The file is deleted when monitoring stops; it is not retained with a show or transmitted. Narration is saved only when a family chooses to record a show With Narration.

Microphone permission is controlled through your device’s settings. You can decline or later revoke it. Features that need a microphone will then be unavailable, while play without narration remains available.

During show recording, the Stop button has a red border and displays time remaining. Its border blinks during the final five seconds before the puppets bow, unless Reduce Motion is enabled. When the microphone is in use, iOS or iPadOS also shows its orange privacy indicator.

Saved content and deletion

Shows and custom sounds remain in the app’s local storage until removed through the app or when the app and its local data are deleted. Delete a saved show in My Shows to remove its narration. Use Delete My Recording to remove a puppet’s custom sound. Choosing Built-in only changes the sound that puppet uses; it does not delete its custom recording. River City Apps cannot view, retrieve, or delete an app-stored show through a support request.

Depending on your settings, Apple-managed backups or device transfers may include app data. A video already saved to Photos is a separate copy and may remain after an in-app show or the app itself is deleted. Manage that copy in Photos. Photos may synchronize it according to your Apple and iCloud settings.

Video export and Photos

Exporting a show creates a video of the performance stage. It may include narration or custom sounds that a player recorded, as well as puppet actions, scenery, and audio. The app may render and store that video locally before the grown-up check. Saving a copy to Photos requires the grown-up check and add-only Photos access. Puppet Theater does not provide an in-app share-sheet export or upload videos to River City Apps.

Once saved, the video is in the family’s Photos library. Photos may synchronize it according to the family’s Apple and iCloud settings. A grown-up can manage or share that copy separately through Photos. Review a show before saving it, especially if it includes a child’s voice.

Accounts, advertising, and third parties

The app does not require registration, a public profile, or a River City Apps account. It does not provide an in-app public feed, chat, or a place to browse other families’ shows. The app’s puppets, scenes, and built-in sounds are available without a River City Apps online service.

Apple provides operating-system services such as microphone permissions, Photos, and device backups. Those services operate under the device’s settings and Apple’s privacy information.

Support correspondence

When a parent or guardian emails [email protected], Jacob Marshall receives the sender’s email address, message, and any attachments they choose to include. This information is used to answer the request and troubleshoot problems. Please do not include a child’s voice recording or other personal information unless it is necessary to explain the issue. Support email is hosted by Apple’s iCloud Mail, separately from the app’s on-device operation.

Messages are retained while an issue is open. Resolved conversations are generally deleted within 12 months after resolution unless needed for an ongoing dispute or legal obligation. You may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing the same address. The email provider may retain residual copies according to its own practices.
